Women's Group |
MHS MANAGE & OPERATE: - |
|
The MHS Women's Group was set up in response to acknowledged inappropriateness of mixed sex groups and services for many women, whose mental health problems are sometimes the result of their experiences of male behaviour and for whom societal expectations are very often different from men's The group can be accessed by women from throughout Hambleton and Richmonshire and allows women the opportunity to take part in social activities with women that they may not feel comfortable in doing in a mixed group. In-order to offer equal access to women throughout the widespread area, the members of staff assist with transport, both from the individuals' homes to a central meeting place, and to the venue of the planned activity. The group meets fortnightly and the group members, supported by the MHS Service Development worker, plan the programme activities. Access to the group can be by referral from the CMHTs, other agencies, or by self-referral. However, in the case of self-referrals, should the women be involved with any other agency for the purpose of gaining any information considered relevant to MHS. Referrals to the Women's Group, whether by referral from another agency, or by self-referral will be progressed according to MHS's existing operational referral procedure. MHS is committed to facilitating individuals' access to educational training and employment opportunities. Should any group's members wish to be supported in accessing any of these, whether within or outside of the specified group times, the member of staff will, whenever possible, make herself available to offer such support as is requested and agreed by both parties to be appropriate. |
