Donations and Fundraising
MHS receives funding for the services it provides from Health and
Social Services. However, Staff and Volunteers are engaged
throughout the year in various fundraising activities which provide
money for ‘extras and amenities’ for people which are not covered by
contract funding. Fundraising activities always aim to have two
components, firstly to raise funds for the purposes described above,
but as importantly to open other avenues of access, through which
people can make contact, and then possibly take up information or
services which may help them in coping with mental health problems
or perhaps, someone they know.
Donations are always welcome because they tell MHS that there is
recognition of the services provided and that there is sympathetic
understanding of the difficulties faced by people with mental health
problems.
Donations help MHS to reach out and identify and respond to new
needs. For example, such donations have helped MHS to give small
grants to assist people in taking a holiday break of their choice.
